Technical Support Engineer
The 5G Operations team in NEC Europe provides customer-facing delivery and support services for the ORAN network, including ORAN network deployment.
The Challenge
As well as having a proven track record of working in a RAN support environment, the successful candidate needed to open and capable to learn new technologies. Although much of the role allowed for flexi-working the successful candidate needed to be prepared to travel and work within the Europe and other customer locations when required.
The Approach
Maintaining candidate relationships and setting expectations played a major part in helping to make this hire successful. The successful candidate was one we had built a relationship with over months and was in a hiring process with another competitor. Building a rapport and keeping in constant contact helped to set the candidate's expectations of the hiring company.
The Numbers
60 candidates were initially targeted with 25 candidates qualifying. 7 candidates were shortlisted and an offer was made in 4 weeks.
The Outcome
The successful candidate had 12 years of telecoms experience, with direct experience in technical support. As well as having RAN experience the candidate has experience performing node upgrades and fault fixes within the core network, this helped to give him the edge when making the hire.
