Commercetools is a market-leading API first headless commerce platform, HQ’d in Germany with $330m in funding from 3 rounds and a global team of 500 build in 5 years.


The Challenge

Commercetools are doing extremely well globally; at the forefront of the composable commerce movement as well as founder members of the Mach Alliance, so the company's position is very much a growth role. The challenges were twofold; the market in the UK for strong, relevant enterprise sales people who are currently open to a move is extremely tough currently, with candidates either not wanting to move in an uncertain market, or the ones actually open to a switch being relentlessly pursued by companies/recruiters.

The Approach

The successful candidate was known to us and we had been in touch earlier in the year about a different opportunity with another of our Clients.  He was therefore receptive to hearing about interesting opportunities.

The Numbers

We spoke to three candidates in our immediate network and submitted all three to Client.  All three got interviews.  The successful candidate progressed quickly through the process as the standout candidate,  He accepted the role 2.5 weeks after the initial introduction.

The Outcome

The success candidate had 15+ years’ experience of selling highly relevant ecommerce and marketing technology solutions into the retail/ecommerce verticals.  In his previous role he sold into a lot of Commercetools’ Clients and partners so was an excellent fit.
